Kickstarter is one of many crowdfunding online platforms that help to raise money from the public, overcoming the traditional avenues of investment. The project creators will choose a suitable deadline and a minimum funding target. If the minimum target is not met by the deadline, no money will be collected (a kind of assurance contract)

On June 21, 2012, Kickstarter began publishing statistics on its projects. As of today, close to half a million launched projects with a success rate of between 35-40%.

The total amount pledged so far is close to a whooping $5 billion dollars.

The best project so far is the Pebble watch. Now, the Pebble company has evolved into multi-product companies that provide quality and innovative design.
